The Institute has two main categories of membership:

Member

  • has limited access to the Institute's forum
  • is given help towards passing the Certified Membership Assessment, including access to a number of free training weekends and forum assistance
  • is invited to at least two socials per year
  • receives discounts from a number of suppliers, including SKS, Aldridge, Greenfox and SafeVentures
  • but must not use the ICL logo for any purpose
  • and does not receive an ICL ID card
  • and does not get a listing in the find-a-locksmith pages.

To become a Member you must ...

Certified Member

  • must abide at all times by the ICL ethos.
  • has full access to the Institute's forum
  • is entitled to a listing in the find-a-locksmith pages
  • is able to make full use of the ICL logo
  • receives an ICL ID card
  • is encouraged to maintain skills, with access to a number of free training weekends each year
  • is invited to at least two socials per year
  • receives discounts from a number of suppliers, including SKS, Aldridge, Greenfox and SafeVentures.

Other membership categories

Honorary member

Awarded by the Steering Group to individuals who have given outstanding service to the locksmithing industry either to ICL or to the Master Locksmiths association. Recommendations for Honorary membership of the ICL shall be made to the Steering Group, who will debate and decide. This title may be withdrawn at any time.

Retired member

Any Full Member in good standing who has retired from full time locksmithing by reason of age or ill health.

Approved suppliers

Any company that works with or for the good of the industry and for ICL in particular may be awarded this title. Use of the ICL logo will be approved and a small fee levied.
