The Institute has three categories of membership:
  1. Student Member

    Applicants who successfully pass the vetting procedures will be entitled to Student Membership.
  2. Advanced Student

    Students who are currently studying for locksmith qualifications or attending recognised locksmith training may be entitled to Advanced Student Membership subject to review and references, and to passing the Advanced Students practical and theory exam. Advanced Students may utilise the Institute logo but will not be listed or be able to access the Members only areas.
  3. Full Member

    Full Membership will be awarded to those Advanced Students who have successfully passed the vetting and Full Membership application procedures, and who pass the Full Members practical and theory exam. Full Membership will only awarded only to those locksmiths who can satisfy all the criteria required and are working commercial locksmiths. A previously trained and trading locksmith who can demonstrate that they have been trading for a minimum of 18 months, and who is suitably skilled and equipped to work to our non-destructive entry standard can sit the Full exam and can join directly as a Full Member subject to agreement to the ICL terms. Full members will be granted access to the Members area and will be able to access the ICL forum and technical data sections. Full Members will be promoted via the Regional Member section.
