The Adams Rite bypass will trip the locking latch feature of the Adams Rite style of locks with the screw-in style cylinders. These locks are commonly found on aluminium shop front doors. A piece of mica or 'Slim Jim' style tool will help to retract the latch if necessary.

The trip wire is made from a specific wire and due to its gauge will slide through typical screw in cylinders and pick up on the latch of the lock. A turning action will retract the latch. The tool is designed with a strong two-part handle which will prevent slippage.

It may be necessary to change the angle of the bend of the wire for some locks. Also lifting the pins when the wire is inserted may help as will adjusting the angle of the wire once the wire is resting on or close to the latch mechanism.
